Trotsky was one of the main leaders of the Russian revolution in 1917 and central to the revolutionary movement internationally until Stalin’s agents assassinated him in 1940. Even so, anyone interested in how organising can change the world will find it rewarding. It needs careful reading because the authors have assembled material from many different situations, and it suffers at times from lack of context. This selection was originally put together in the heat of an argument on the US left in the 1980s, but its recent republication is welcome.
